This book "Basic Medical Art” was created in appreciation of the amazing beauty of the human body. It was designed to help students learn, understand and master anatomical structures and as well develop visual communication skills as an integral part of creative process. The connection of the eye and hand in drawing, labeling and coloring anatomical structures is a valuable learning experience. Therefore, this book is meant to be drawn in, colored in, written on and even cut up in the case where it is necessary. The preferred medium for coloring diagrams in this book is colored pencils. Water colors bleed through the page and obscure the fine detail, so colored pencils give the best result. The choice of colors is up to you in most cases. There are a few instances where the choice of colors is designated by anatomical convention. Arteries are generally drawn in bright red, veins are deep blue, bile ducts are typically green and nerves are usually yellow.
