Produktbeschreibung

This book gives readers an overview about technologies that are useful for developments related to Smart Cities.
Some technologies are already available, such for example, as smart meters for electricity and gas in buildings. But there are possibilities to incorporate existing devices into wider networks with other smart devices that currently operate independently. This in turn will considerably improve the reduction of the energy consumption in buildings, reduction of emission pollutions in cities and improvement of the well-being of people. The other objective of this book is to introduce readers to new technologies which are not yet implemented in areas related to the efficient functioning of cities. For example, areas related to Intelligent Transport Systems are mostly developed for the optimization of the traffic flow, reduction of accidents on roads, improvement of the safety of drivers and related to road transportation problems. The rapid advancesin Blockchain technologies are also covered.
Introduction to Smart Cities.- Forward from the city council and government.- Technologies for Smart Cities.- Smart meters, sensors, transduces and actuators.- Telecommunications systems for data transmission: theory, devices and practical examples.- Methods for the data acquisition from smart sensors, mathematical algorithms, software design and practical examples.- Information processing methods and systems for Smart Cities.- Centralized and decentralized nodes for the data processing.- Vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and intelligent transport systems.- Smart parking, remote booking and smart payments.- Methods for the presentations of the information from sensors, data visualisation and data storage.- Security aspects of the data collection and transmission, cybersecurity and blockchain.- Future trends for Smart Cities.- Conclusions.- List of References and Bibliography.

Dr. Yuri A. Vershinin obtained his M.Sc. degree (with distinction) in Automation and Telecommunication, and the Ph.D. in Control Engineering. He worked for numbers of years (full-time) as the electronic engineer in the big transportation company. He designed and taught courses for Postgraduate and Undergraduate students at the university in the United Kingdom, i.e. Intelligent Transport Systems, Technologies for Smart Cities, Telecommunication, Instrumentation and Control. His industrial, research and academic experience is more than 30 years.
