Author is a Ph. D student at University of Jammu, J&K, India and is involved in research that includes studying psycho social well being of children from Kashmir. This is her chosen field of research since her Master's study and has so far published five research papers. She has also presented her work at national and international conferences.
Adolescence is a period of formative years, during which an individual faces changes and challenges in different aspects of development. Consequently relationship between adolescents and their parents undergoes a significant change, nevertheless parental role in adolescent's life in this period of upheaval assumes a greater significance. Relation between psycho social well being of adolescents and parenting behavior adopted by their mothers has been explored. Mental health status, emotional maturity and satisfaction with life were the measures of psycho social well being that were evaluated and parenting behavior was assessed by measuring positive and negative dimensions of parenting. Statistical measures were used to study the relationship between parenting behavior and adolescent psycho social well being. Gender based differences were taken into consideration while studying both psycho social well-being of adolescents and parenting behavior adopted by the mothers.
