Knut Ola Topland is a computer specialist in the field of mobilensystems. This Thesis is part of his Master of Science (MSc)ndegree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at AgdernUniversity College. He did his research in the Silicon Valleynarea in San Francisco.
As a result of the big expansion of Internet mostlearning institutions supply learning basedservices through the Internet. Currently we arefacing a new evolution with the newgeneration of mobile network. This will result inmore complex types of joint distributionchannels and multiplication of terminals and thisprovide a wide array of new opportunities, challenges, and arenas in the field of e-learning.Today´s basis requirement on "Just in timelearning” (JiT) and "Learning on Demand” (LoD) can beeasier realized with multi-channel e-learning services. The thesis will focus on challenges of developing ofmulti-channel service development inwhich all of the content is located at the same node. This paper will give an overview ofmulti-channel services, with emphasis on the use ofthese services in the field of learning.Products, technology, applications, and research ofcurrent interest will be presented. Also anapplication of multi-channel services and itstechnology will be researched. Furthermore thisresearcher is going to develop a prototype which willillustrate the challenges or weaknessesin multi-channel services.
