British writer Robert J, Tilley has been a distinguished-if infrequent-contributor to leading science fiction magazines on both sides of the Atlantic, most notably The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction in the USA, and New Worlds in the UK. Gathered together for the first time are eight of his very best stories: Title story SOMETHING ELSE, deservedly anthologized as a Best of the Year selection by Judith Merrill, is a lyrical but ultimately tragic take on Man's first contact with an alien life form. WILLIE'S BLUES, a unique slant on time travel, was similarly recognized by Donald Wollheim for one of his World's Best SF of the Year selections. Plus six other masterly tales, including an entirely new story, MEDICAL PRACTICE!
