This volume deals with an exceptionally broad range of metal matrix composite materials, including a number of novel combinations which have received little attention in the past. The results of a substantial research and development programme into aluminium alloy - based lamellar-fibrous metal matrix composite materials, which combine organic and glass fibre reinforced plastics, are also considered in some detail. For each case the complete innovation spectrum of conception, design, manufacture, testing and final usage, is considered.
