Submarine warfare in the Pacific theater during World War II is at the center of action novel Dive, Dive Deep.
Set in the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and Japan during the years 1943 to 1945, the story follows two naval submarine commanders who compete to sink the most Japanese vessels. One of them falls in love with a female naval intelligence officer, who warns her lover of the perils of being too aggressive in pursuing Japanese warships. The story takes the reader on a daring journey of exciting undersea battles between surface ships and submarines, and recounts the fear and perils of being attacked in a submarine deep undersea, as well as describing land forays against Japanese Islands.
Submarines played a large role in the Pacific during the war and this book is based on some actual events that took place.
