'You remember the old family car was clutch driven? I hated that old clutch! I could never ease off of it, and the car would lurch and die every time. I'd wind up crying and would have to go into the house!'
Vicki laughed. 'I remember. But you got past that.'
'Yeah, when Dad bought a new car with automatic drive!'
Vicki chuckled. 'I guess you're right. Look! We're nearly home!'
'Just wanted to say I love you, Sis.' Nikki turned her head to manipulate the sun visor. Vicki heard her scream, 'Oh, Sis, there's a red car coming up fast to your right...Oh, God, he's not going to stop! God help us! Vickiiii!'
The stop sign! The car was running the stop sign! Vicki hit the brake hard, but the wheels seemed to lock up, and she knew she wasn't going to stop in time. It was too late! She grew cold as she heard the sound of her own piercing scream. Time seemed to stand still...she couldn't see...and the last sounds she heard were those of her sister's pitiful screams and the terrifying explosion of splintering glass...
