Dr. Mark Alan Tucker was born in 1956 in the small town of Brazil, Indiana. After graduating from Brazil High School in 1974, he served a two-year mission to Japan for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon his return, he attended Brigham Young University and later, Indiana State University; earning his bachelor's degree in biology in 1987; his masters degree in biochemistry in 1989 and his doctoral in pharmacology in 1995. He was the laboratory director in the Physiology and Pharmacology Departments for Indiana University's School of Medicine.
He served on the board of directors for the Terre Haute Chapter of the American Heart Association and was President of the American Heart Association's Professional Medical Education Foundation. In 2003, Dr. Tucker retired from the medical field to form his own general contracting and construction firm. This career change afforded Dr Tucker the freedom to pursue his passion for writing. He is the father of four children: Krystle, Natalie, Evan, and Brianna. He is Grandpa to Zethaniel, Zaiden, Liam, Jubilee, and Grant.
