Byron Larson is exasperated. He hates his job, and he is in an ongoing conflict with his wife. He picks up on a whim two equally desperate hitchhikers, William and Jimmy, and the three concoct a scheme for an ambitious social work project. Clarissa tells Byron she is divorcing him, and the three fugitives rent a motel room. They experience hectic misadventures. But when they meet Father Tom and join the prayer community at his church, their destinies really begin to unfold.
