Wilfrid Douglas Newton (1884-1951): British journalist, editor, frequent contributor to periodicals. Feature editor with various London newspapers, special correspondent for London Daily Chronicle, New York Times, and other newspapers. Accompanied Prince of Wales on American trip, 1919, as special press representative. Author of many books, in later years Catholic material. His works include: Over the Top (1917), The War Cache (1918), Phillip and the Flappers (1918), Green Ladies (1919), Westward With the Prince of Wales (1920), Marie Vee (1924), Sookey (1926), The Brute (1928), The Golden Cat (1930), Marked Woman (1949), Catholic London (1950) and London West of the Bars (1951).
