Lucius Bunyan Compton (1875-1948) was born in Haywood County, North Carolina. He was a Baptist minister like his father. Compton took part in many revivals across the country. After returning to the mountain region of North Carolina, he held evangelical meetings in schoolhouses, churches, and other different places. He married Sarah Etta. He never settled into one church exclusively. In 1903 he published Life of Lucius B. Compton: The Mountain Evangelist, an autobiography which is devoted primarily to his spiritual life.
