Produktbeschreibung

Autor/Autorin: L. Fahmy Hassan

Professor Hassan L. Fahmy is head of the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Asyut University, Egypt. His core research field pertains to Cataract. Professor Fahmy has numerous international publications in Ophthalmology.
Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in the world1. Gradual clouding of the 50 crystalline lens due to clumping of proteins is responsible for visual loss. The 51 World Health Report published in 1998 estimated that there were 19.34 million 52 people who are bilaterally blind (less than 3/60 in the better eye) from age-53 related cataract2. This represented 43% of all causes of blindness. 54 Approximately 1% of Africa's populations are blind and about half the blindness 55 in Africa is due to cataract. This book is based on the research that shows the beneficial effect of urea loaded nano particles as eye drops on early cortical cataract, both at the level of electron microscopic examination and clinical effect.
