A fox terrier makes history as a Hollywood star, circus attraction... and the Führer's lap dog.

In Berlin, he was named Levi: a good Jewish dog with a good Jewish name.

When his owners fled to America, he became Hercules: star of the silver screen in Hollywood's golden age.

Then he caught the eye of Hitler, who called him Hansi: a pure-bred lapdog, privy to all the Führer's secrets.

But he was known to the Resistance as Sirius: the insider who could bring peace to a world at war.

SIRIUS: the little dog who almost changed history.

Crown has written a lovely novel about Nazi Germany. The success of his light approach to serious subject matter owes much to Sirius... but it's clear that beneath the comic veneer, a grave imperative drives his storytelling' Independent
Jonathan Crown was born in Berlin and has since led a nomadic life, not unlike Sirius, the hero of his first novel. So far, his travels have taken him to Zurich, New York, Saint-Paul de Vence and Sorrento. He currently lives in Berlin with his dachshund, Kelly.

Über den Autor

Jonathan Crown's fox terrier Louis - Sirius's grandson - told him this family history, Crown simply wrote it all down. This is, therefore, the first ever novel written by a dog.

Klappentext

Berlin, 1938: SIRIUS, a dashing fox terrior, lives a charmed life with the German Jewish Liliencrons. But, with the rise of Nazism, the Liliencrons decide to leave Berlin for Hollywood. SIRIUS takes his destiny into his own paws - he becomes a celebrated film star, friend to Rita Hayworth and Cary Grant. Later, he returns to Germany as Adolf Hitler's lap dog... and an informant for the resistance. This is lovely novel about a little dog with a big history.
