Autor/Autorin: van Mourik Laurens J.

Studied Science and Innovation Management at the Utrecht University. Currently graduating for a second Master's degree in Intercultural Communication (in Spanish).
The process of cross-border entrepreneurship clearly distinguishes between different types of companies. Although globalization is increasing rapidly, exact influences of internationalization on the co-evolution of product and market adaptations are still unknown. This explorative study makes a distinction between knowledge intensive and knowledge extensive firms, and between start-ups and experienced companies. With the help of a hereby developed timeline method, the longitudinal processes of product and market adaptations are analysed. Findings of the research indicate that the evolution between product and market adaptations is reciprocal. Lively periods with many adaptations are altered by periods with relatively few adaptations. In addition, clear patterns of and relations between product adaptations and market adaptations are detected for all four categories.
