An Old Man's Darling is a story of two lovers whose fate never allows them to be together. More than fate, this separation results from the vicious scheming of the antagonists to torment the poor lovers till the very end. The story follows a series of unfortunate events that evoke the reader's sentiment. These events are presented so realistically that one can almost imagine them happening in reality. American author, Mrs. Alex. McVeigh Miller writes with such a beautiful style that one gets captivated by her words. She makes her readers stay till the end of the story to know what happens to the lovers. Excerpt from An Old Man's Darling "The girl was beautiful, with all the delicate freshness and slimness of eighteen. She was a dazzling blonde, with sea-blue eyes, and hair like spun gold falling beneath her jaunty sailor hat in long, loose curls to her graceful waist. She was fair as a lily, with a flush like the heart of a sea-shell on her round, dimpled cheeks. Her brow was fair and broad, and fringed with soft, childish rings of sunny hair."
